GLENSIDE, Pa. –The Arcadia men's soccer team fell to top-ranked Messiah, 2-0 on Tuesday evening at Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavilion.
The Knights fall to 5-10-1 on the season and 2-5 in conference play, while Messiah improves to 15-0-2 (8-0 MACC).
Arcadia had a chance to take a lead in the 16th minute, when
Harun Abdullahi took a shot from the left side just outside the box, but Messiah keeper Connor Bell was equal to the task, keeping the game scoreless.
Messiah broke the ice in the 32nd minute, when David Alejos headed the ball towards Luke Brautigam, who converted the opportunity in tight, giving the Falcons a 1-0 advantage.
The score remained 1-0 in favor of Messiah heading to halftime.
In the second half, the Knights had a chance to tie the score in the 56th minute, when
Ryan Hammer fired a shot from the right side of the box, forcing Bell to make a save and keep the score at 1-0.
Messiah added another goal the 86th minute, when Adam Cole scored off of a cross from Micah Fitz, giving the Falcons a 2-0 lead.
Arcadia could not generate a goal in the final minutes, falling to the Falcons.
IN GOAL:
Jake Varrato played the all 90:00 minutes for the Knights, making four saves. Bell made two stops in net for Messiah.
BY THE NUMBERS: The Knights limited Messiah to six shots on goal in the match, while totaling two of their own … Arcadia had two chances on corner kicks in the defeat, while the Falcons had four ... Arcadia's four shots are the fewest it has had in a game this season.
