Game Recap: Women's Volleyball |

Arcadia Handles Hood, 3-0

GLENSIDE, Pa. -- Arcadia's women's volleyball team cruised to a 3-0 win over Hood on Wednesday evening in Alumni Gymnasium.

The Knights improved to 15-4 on the season and 4-1 in the MAC Commonwealth, while the Blazers fell to 11-8 overall and 2-2 in league play. Set scores were 25-13, 25-14, 25-21 in favor of the Scarlet & Grey.

The Blazers were limited to a .084 hitting percentage as a team, while the Knights hit .231 collectively. Arcadia also collected 13 service aces to four for the Blazers.

The Knights, behind a strong service rotation from Julia Paliwodzinski, closed out the first set on a 12-0 run to turn a 13-13 tie into a 25-13 run away.

In the second set, the Knights asserted themselves a little sooner, using a 6-0 run to take a 13-6 lead with Emily Eng at the service line. Leading 17-11 late in the set, a 5-0 spurt, including a pair of service aces from Allison Elechko, gave the Knights a 22-11 lead in another easy win.

With many of the Knights' reserves playing in the third and, ultimately final, set, Hood hung around for much of the set and tied the match at 20-20 on an Angel Scheetz kill. Leading 22-21, the Knights secure the win with a kill from Shannon Ryan, followed by a pair of Ryan service aces.

Ryan and Elechko led the Knights with nine kills apiece, and Maddie Sehrt added eight on just 12 attempts. Julia Palidowzinski and Jazlyn Surell had 21 and 11 assists, respectively. Eng led the defense with 12 digs, Elechko had seven, and Lauren Enfield added six. Sehrt had three block assists and a solo block.

Elena Zinaich led the Blazers with nine kills, and Payton Belella had 15 assists and 11 digs.

The Knights are back on the court on Sunday against No. 16 Johns Hopkins at 1 p.m., followed by a 5 p.m. contest with Susquehanna.
