READING, Pa. – Goals from
Daniel Tittelmayer and
Ryan Hammer lifted the Arcadia men's soccer team to a 2-1 win over Albright on Tuesday evening at Shirk Stadium.
The Knights improve to 4-8-1 (1-3 MACC) with the win. The Lions fall to 3-8-1 (1-3 MACC) with the loss.
Arcadia took the lead midway through the first half. Tittelmayer scored on a bicycle kick from the top of the box with Hammer picking up the assist in the 20th minute, giving the Knights the 1-0 lead.
The score remained 1-0 heading to the second half. Hammer gave the Knights some breathing room in the 52nd minute, when he beat Albright keeper Billy Mullen, with an assist from
Sam Hernandez, giving the Knights a 2-0 advantage.
The Lions pulled within one in the 79th minute when Billy Hanratty scored, making the score 2-1. The Knights held off Albright the rest of the way, securing the win.
IN GOAL: Jake Varatto played all 90 minutes in goal for the Knights, making two saves. Mullen stopped 10 shots in net for the Lions.
BY THE NUMBERS: The Knights had 10 shots on goal in the contest, tied for the most shots on goal in a game this season. The Knights also tallied 10 shots on goal against Penn State Berks on September 20 … Arcadia had two corner kicks in the match and did not allow a corner kick. This is the first time the Knights' opponent did not have any corner kicks in a game this match this season.
