READING, Pa. – The Arcadia men's basketball team fell to Alvernia Saturday evening, 61-58. Junior
Phil Pierfy led the Knights in scoring with 14 points, making this his 15
th game straight in double digits.
FOR THE RECORD:
- Arcadia dips to 13-10 on the season and 8-6 in the conference.
- Alvernia advances to 11-12 and 6-8 in the MAC Commonwealth.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- After falling behind in the first few minutes of the game, the Knights regrouped and took a 9-2 run over a 2:32 span to take a three-point lead, 11-8, with 13:36 left in the first. Arcadia continued to maintain a lead before the Golden Wolves had their own run, regaining the lead by the end of the half, 32-25.
- In the second frame, the Scarlet and Grey responded with a 17-10 run over the first 8:04 of the stanza, tying the game at 42. Over that span, freshman Da'Kquan Davis led the squad with six points, while senior Brandon Thompson deposited five.
- Despite regaining the lead with 7:58 left on the clock, Alvernia rallied to go up by nine with 4:14 remaining. The Knights attempted a comeback with a 6-0 run over the final 3:31, but time expired.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
- Adding to Pierfy's team-high 14 points, was Davis (10 points) and junior Evan Slone (8 points).
- Collectively, Arcadia shot 38.2% from the floor.
- The Scarlet and Grey dominated the glass, 39-32, with Slone leading all players with 10. Pierfy neared a double-double, adding seven boards.
