Multiple Career Highs Lead Men's Lacrosse to Win Over Catholic, 13-10

WASHINGTON – Arcadia men's lacrosse saw multiple career highs as the Knights took down Catholic, 13-10.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia evens its record at 1-1.
  • Catholic drops to 2-2 on the year.
COACH SAYS:
  • "I'm really proud of our team today," said head men's lacrosse coach Nick Taylor. "They did a great job executing our scout and being prepared for today. Our upperclassmen did a great job leading us in a full team win."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights owned the first quarter, taking a 5-3 advantage. During the frame, Arcadia saw a goal from senior Nick Ferraro on an assist from sophomore Clo Muscara to even the game at 1-1. After falling behind 2-1, the Scarlet and Grey responded with four straight goals. Sophomore Tanner Pajakinas and junior Conor Cunningham each scored unassisted, followed by a goal each from sophomore Austin Williams and Muscara. Muscara's goal came on a dish from sophomore Josh Keitz.
  • In the second stanza, each team netted three goals, as the score sat at 8-6. The Scarlet and Grey saw Pajakinas claim the hat trick before Muscara received a feed from freshman Randy Collins. The Knights final score of the half came from Ferraro, after a pass from Pajakinas.
  • Out of the break, Arcadia ruled the third period as it outscored Catholic, 3-0, to put the score at 11-6. Williams claimed two goals in the quarter, one assisted by Pajakinas and the other by freshman JP Shaaber. Ferraro netted the remaining goal, seeing a feed from Collins.
  • The final quarter saw the home team try to mount a comeback, however the Knights wouldn't budge. The teams traded the first four goals of the stanza, seeing freshman Daniel Sledge and Ferraro score unassisted. 
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Senior goal keeper A.J. Beck picked up his first win on the year, saving 13 shots.
  • As a team, the Knights outworked the Cards picking up groundballs, 42-32.
  • Keitz registered a career high eight groundball, while Cunningham tied a career high (7) and junior Joe Trovato set a career mark with five.
  • Arcadia also dominated faceoffs, winning 18 of the games 27.
  • Senior defender Steve McCrossin notched a career best four caused turnovers.
  • Ferraro was a perfect 4-for-4 on shots, all resulting in goals.
GAME NOTES:
  • Williams' three scores tie his career best.
  • Collins' two assists are the first two of his career.
  • Shaaber's assist sits as his first career point. 
UP NEXT:
  • The Knights return to action on Tuesday when they travel to DeSales. The game is set to start at 4 p.m.
