HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Bishops plated their run in the top of the first inning, before the Knights immediately responded with four runs, all which came with two outs, in the bottom of the frame. Junior Luke Hohenstein was the first to come home on a throwing error by the shortstop. In the next at-bat, junior Sean Carew plated sophomore Phil Pierfy with a sac fly to center. Two batters later, senior Nick Cardace scored on a single from junior Nick Ponente, before freshman Evan Hurst singled in classmate Brett Moyer.
  • The Knights added two runs in the second inning and one in the third to increase its lead to 7-1, before exploding for nine runs in the fifth inning.
  • Moyer scored the first run of the frame on a fielding error by the shortstop; two batters later Ponente crossed the dish on a wild pitch. With no outs and runners on second and third, junior Bryan Gillen singled in Hurst from third. The next batter, Hohenstein, brought home freshman Matt Ernst on a groundout to the pitcher.
  • With one out and the bases loaded against a new pitcher, Carew singled through the left side to drive in Gillen from third. Moyer cleared the bases in the next at-bat with a double down the right field line.  The freshman scored the game's final run two at-bats later on a Hurst single through the left side.
