Seven Run Second Inning Powers Softball to Game 2 Win in Split with Lebanon Valley

GLENSIDE, Pa – The Arcadia softball team split a twin bill against the Lebanon Valley falling 4-3 in the early game, before claiming game two 9-2. The game two win was fueled by a seven-run inning.

  • The Knights are now 4-8 on the season.
  • The Dutchmen move to 5-5.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Arcadia started the game strong as sophomore Hunter Schantz smacked an RBI-single that scored junior Jackie Bilotti for a 1-0 lead in the first inning. Bilotti scored again during Schantz at-bat, coming home when Schantz reached on an error in the fifth inning. Senior Nicole Iasiello added a sacrifice-fly that plated classmate Amanda Hess for a 3-0 lead.
  • Sophomore Kylee Schwind kept the Dutchmen scoreless through the first five innings with five strikeouts. Lebanon Valley rallied, however, and tied the game at 3 in the sixth inning.
  • The Dutchmen kept the momentum going by getting the eventual winning run in the top of the seventh inning to lead 4-3. Arcadia loaded the bases in the bottom half of the inning, but weren't able to rally past that.

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Billotti picked up where she left off in the first game by erasing a 1-0 deficit in the second game with a two-RBI single in the second inning.
  • Arcadia exploded in the third inning by scoring seven runs with Billoti and sophomore Ashley Eckett knocking in three and two RBI, respectively.
  • The Arcadia lead was too great for the Dutchmen, as sophomore Mary Pat Murray held Lebanon Valley to two runs and one walk in seven innings.
INSIDE THE BOXSCORE
  • Billotti was three-for-four with five RBI against in the night cap.  
  • Burge had another two-for-three performance, while sophomore Tori Zangrilli was two-for-four.
UP NEXT
  • The Knights will host Misericorida in a twin bill at 4 and 6 p.m. on Tuesday.
