Men’s Volleyball Splits Trimatch Against No. 1 Springfield and Lehman

SPRINGFIELD, Mass. – The Arcadia men's volleyball team split a pair of matches Saturday, falling to No. 1 Springfield, 0-3 (18-25, 18-25, 16-25), and topping Lehman, 3-1 (27-25, 25-19, 23-25, 25-12).

FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia moves to 12-10 on the season.
  • Springfield advances to 22-1.
  • Lehman sits at 14-10 on the year.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • After seeing six ties throughout the first 16 points of the first set, Springfield pulled away to take the set, 25-18.
  • The top-ranked Pride controlled the second set, coming out on top, 25-18.
  • The Scarlet and Grey battled in the third set, taking a 7-3 run over the first 10 points. Springfield rallied back to tie the game at 10. The final set saw four ties before the Pride pulled out in front for the win.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE: Arcadia 3, Lehman 1
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In the first set, the Knights came out hot, taking a 10-5 run before the Lightning battled backed. Arcadia scored the final three points to take the set, 27-25.
  • The second set was neck and neck early, before the Knights took a 5-1 run to put themselves up, 10-8. Over the remainder of the set, the Scarlet and Grey outscored Lehman 15-11 to come out on top, 25-19.
  • The Lightning rallied in the third set, overcoming a deficit to take the game, 25-23.
  • In the final set of the match, Arcadia outdid its opponent, taking a 6-0 run to move the lead to 12-4. The Knights dashed out in front over the remainder of the set, to finish 25-12.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Manley led the Knights with 14 kills, while hitting .414. He also racked up 11 digs and three aces.
  • Sophomore Evan Misal led all players four aces.
  • Devantier tied a career high 45 assists.
  • Braas finished with 10 kills while hitting .333 for the match.
  • On the match, freshman Quinn Baily registered eight kills and three aces.
  • Sophomore Zayne George finished the day with 10 digs.
UP NEXT:
  • The Knights return to Glenside on Tuesday for a conference matchup against Messiah. The game is slated for a 7 p.m. start.
