GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia men's volleyball team walked away with a thrilling 3-2 (28-26, 25-16, 22-25, 19-25, 15-11) victory Tuesday night over MAC rival Messiah. The win secured the Knights a spot in the inaugural MAC Championship.
FOR THE RECORD:
- The Scarlet and Grey improved to 13-10 on the year, and 6-2 against conference opponents.
- The Falcons are now 13-8 overall, and 7-3 in conference play.
COACH SAYS:
- "The guys battled tough tonight," said head coach Eli Porr. "It was a fun match to watch and I'm proud of my guys for grinding it out. I want to give credit to Messiah for playing their hearts out and playing some great defense."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- The Knights came out hot, leading by as many as nine at 15-6. The visitors battled back and extended the set, before Arcadia chalked up the final three points, including a kill from sophomore Austin Braas and an ace from freshman Quinn Baily, for a 28-26 win.
- Though the beginning of the second set was close, the Scarlet and Grey carried the momentum throughout. With an 11-3 lead, the Knights rattled off seven straight points for complete control. Arcadia led by as many as 10 in the set before taking it 25-16.
- Messiah claimed the tightly contested third (25-22) and fourth (25-19) sets to force the fifth set.
- Arcadia had the first serve in the fifth set and got to an early 2-0 lead. The Knights maintained its lead throughout, sitting in front 8-6 when the teams switched sides. Momentum carried the Scarlet and Grey the rest of the way as it took the set 15-11.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- Arcadia totaled 76 points on 61 kills, six aces and nine blocks.
- Sophomore Jason Manley led the attack with 16 kills. Braas followed with 12 and sophomore Edwin Waters Jr. added 10.
- Freshman Anthony Devantier posted career highs in both assists (49) and kills (5).
- At the net, Brass registered two solo blocks and five block assists, Manley posted four block assists.
- Sophomore Zayne George led the defense with 12 digs, followed by Manley with 10.
PLAYOFF PICTURE:
- All four spots in the conference postseason have been secured, the Knights can finish in any of the top four seeds.

- Arcadia returns to action Thursday night, when it travels to Wilkes for more conference action. First serve is set for 7 p.m.
