Trio of Five Point Scorers Lead Women’s Lacrosse Past Old Westbury, 20-8

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Sophomore Shannon Ryan and seniors Allegra Benites and Nicole Hutson all registered five points as Arcadia women's lacrosse powers past Old Westbury, 20-8.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia moves to 5-2 on the season.
  • Old Westbury falls to 1-4.
COACH SAYS:
  • "Today we had a lot of enthusiasm from the team which was great to see," said head women's lacrosse coach Sam Hosford. "It was a well put together win and it was exciting to watch them have fun."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights dominated the first half, outscoring the Panthers 12-3. Benites and sophomores Julia Imbert and Jess Kaye combined for the first three goals. After Old Westbury got on the scoreboard, the Knights scored eight straight goals, with two coming from Ryan and classmate Victoria Mollitor and one from Kaye, Benites, Hutson, and freshmen Michaela Ferlow and Courtney Eidle.
  • The Scarlet and Grey continued the offensive heat in the second half, outscoring the visitors, 8-5. Mollitor started the scoring off an assist from Benites. Hutson with an unassisted goal, before Benites scored on a free position. Kaye scored her third of the day unassisted and Benites her fourth off a feed from Ryan. Hutson and Ryan connected on the next goal, as Hutson buried her 17th of the season. The final two Knight goals came off the sticks of Ferlow and Ryan.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Benites' five points came on four goals and one assist, while Ryan and Hutson each scored three goals and handed out two assists.
  • Other point getters included Mollitor (4), Ferlow (3), Kaye (3), Murray (2), Eidle (1) and Imbert (1).
  • Ryan added 14 draw controls to her five points on the night.
  • Sophomore Kirsten Pedicone corralled five ground balls for a new career high.
  • As a team, the Knights dominated draw controls, out pacing the Panthers, 26-4.
GAME NOTES:
  • Ryan moves into fourth place all-time in draw controls with 119, while Hutson moves into sixth (112).
  • Hutson also moves into 10th place in program history with 127 ground balls.
  • Eidle's goal marked her first career goal and point.
  • Murray's two assists were the first two assists and points of her career.
  • Kaye set a new career mark in goals (3) and ties her career mark in points (3).
  • Ferlow's two goals and one assist tie career bests, while her three points in a new career high.

The Knights head on the road to open up MAC Commonwealth play as they take on Messiah. The game is slated for a 4 p.m. start.
