Career Day from Kaye Leads Women’s Lacrosse to MAC Commonwealth Win Over Hood, 16-11

FREDERICK, Md. – Sophomore Jess Kaye scored a career high five goals to lead Arcadia women's lacrosse past Hood Saturday afternoon, 16-11.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia advances to 8-5 on the season with a MAC Commonwealth mark of 3-2.
  • Hood falls to 5-8 overall and 0-5 in the conference.
COACH SAYS:
  • "Collectively as a team, we played well today," said head women's lacrosse coach Sam Hosford. "Our defense continues to be outstanding and we continue to pick up big wins with multiple players stepping up."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Scarlet and Grey took a healthy lead into the break, 10-6, seeing seven different scorers in the first frame. Kaye, senior Marie Brockman, and sophomore Victoria Mollitor all scored two goals, while sophomores Shannon Ryan, Julia Imbert, senior Nicole Hutson, and freshman Michaela Ferlow buried one apiece.
  • The Knights continued the offensive efforts in the second half, outscoring the Blazers, 6-5. Kaye scored another three, with Ryan, Hutson, and Imbert each adding one.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • All five of Kaye's points came on goals.
  • Ryan added four points with two goals and two assists.
  • Imbert registered three points on the day, adding two goals and an assist.
  • Mollitor paced the team with five ground balls.
  • Hutson was all over the field, scoring two goals, corralling nine draw controls, picking up three ground balls, and causing two turnovers.
  • Sophomore Molly Naylor picked up the victory with four saves.
GAME NOTES:
  • Not only are the five goals a career high for Kaye, but five points are as well.
  • Mollitor's five ground balls makes a new career best.
  • Hutson's nine draw controls is a career mark for her.
  • Hutson is now tied for second place all-time in caused turnovers (78).
UP NEXT:
  • Arcadia finishes out its non-conference schedule on Tuesday when it travels to Cabrini for a 4 p.m. game.
