Bilotti, DeStefano Combine for 10 Hits; Cancelliere Drives in Five as Softball Sweeps Misericordia

GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia softball team picked its second-straight sweep Tuesday, besting Misericordia, 5-3, in game one and 10-3 in game two. On the day, junior Jackie Bilotti (6-for-8) and freshman Alex DeStefano (4-for-4) combined for 10 hits, while junior Kristin Cancelliere was responsible for five RBIs.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • The Knights jump to 14-12 on the year.
  • The Cougars drop to 13-13.
GAME ONE: ARCADIA 5, MISERICORDIA 3
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • With two outs and the bases loaded in the bottom of the second inning, Cancelliere drove a pitch deep to center field for a bases-clearing double.
  • The visitors tied the game with a run in the third, fifth and sixth innings.
  • Cancelliere drove in the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth on a sacrifice bunt that brought in pinch runner, sophomore Ashton Evans, from third. In the next at-bat, Bilotti singled to center field before DeStefano came home on an error by the center fielder on the same play.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • DeStefano had a 4-for-4 game with two runs scored and a stolen base.
  • Bilotti went 3-for-4 with an RBI and two stolen bases.
  • Cancelliere drove in four runs.
IN THE CIRCLE:
  • Freshman Brooke Ward (1-1) picked up her first collegiate win, allowing two runs and striking out two in four innings of relief. Sophomore Mary Pat Murray allowed one run and struck out two batters over three innings in the start.
  • Victoria Schmidt (4-1) allowed five runs (one earned) on 10 hits in six innings of work.
GAME TWO: ARCADIA 10, MISERICORDIA 3
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • Bilotti played a role in Arcadia's first three runs of the nightcap with an RBI double before scoring on a single by Alexis Burge in the first, and singling in freshman Alex Vardiman in the second.
  • Freshman Jackie Zwicker crossed the dish on an error on the third baseman in the bottom of the third inning, one batter before Vardiman singled to left field to bring in junior Kayla Resh.
  • Leading 5-3 heading to the fifth, sophomore Kylee Schwind smacked a triple down the left field line in her first at-bat of the season to plate Vardiman and Resh; she scored in the next at-bat courtesy of a Cancelliere double.
  • Junior Bekah Good tripled to left center in the top of the sixth inning allowing Bilotti to score before crossing the dish herself on a ground out by Zwicker.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
  • Bilotti was 3-for-4 in the game with a double, two RBIs and two runs scored.
  • Schwind, Cancelliere, Burge, Good, Zwicker, Resh and Vardiman all had a base hit.
  • Schwind drove in two runs.
  • DeStefano and Vardiman each drew a pair of walks.
IN THE CIRCLE:
  • Resh (1-1) picked up the win, allowing two unearned runs and striking out two. Schwind earned her first save of the year, allowing one run on one hit with two strikeouts.
  • Brooke Moyle (6-5) tossed 3.2 innings, allowing seven runs (five earned) on seven hits. Ashlee Brosky allowed three runs in 2.1 innings of work.
NOTES:
  • Bilotti has 12 multi-hit games on the year. She is now tied for 7th all-time in hits with 158.

  • The Scarlet and Grey are back in action Thursday, when it hosts Penn State Abington.
