Bilotti Leads Softball to Sweep Over Albright to Claim the Number One Seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championships

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Junior Jackie Bilotti drove in five runs over the two-game series (11-0, 11-1) with Albright as Arcadia softball claims the top seed in the MAC Commonwealth Championships next weekend.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia advances to 22-12 overall and 12-4 in the MAC Commonwealth.
  • Albright drops to 14-19 on the year and 5-11 in the conference.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The Knights scored their 11 runs over the first two innings, plating three in the first and eight in the second.
  • In the first, sophomore Hunter Schantz drove in freshman Alex DeStefano when she grounded out to second. The following batter, senior Nicole Iasiello, doubled to left field, scoring Bilotti. The final run of the inning came when sophomore Tori Zangrilli singled up the middle to plate Iasiello.
  • Arcadia batted around the order in the second. The first run of the frame came as DeStefano reached on an error by the shortstop, allowing senior Amanda Hess to score from third. Three batters later, Bilotti drove an RBI single to center as DeStefano scored. Two batters later, Iasiello hit another double to left, driving both Bilotti and junior classmate Kristin Cancelliere in. After Zangrilli walked, senior Kaylee Zarick singled to left, plating Iasiello. The final three runs scored on a homer by sophomore Ashley Eckett
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Cancelliere, Bilotti, Iasiello, and Hess each registered two hits in the game, with Iasiello driving in three RBIs and Bilotti one.
  • Eckett finished 1-for-2 with a three-run homerun.
INSIDE THE CIRCLE:
  • Sophomore Mary Pat Murray (9-6) was nearly perfect, only allowing two hits in the five-inning shutout. Murray fanned two in her outing.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • In game two, it was the second and third innings that saw a major offensive output from the Knights. Arcadia scored six in the second and five in the third.
  • The Scarlet and Grey had back-to-back long balls to start the second, seeing Schantz and Iasiello touch em all. Six batters later, Cancelliere had a two-run single to left, scoring Hess and Eckett. The final two runs of the inning were scored as Bilotti crushed a triple to right center, allowing Cancelliere and DeStefano to touch home.
  • After the Lions were able to plate a run in the top half, the Knights drove in five in the bottom of the third. The scoring started with back-to-back RBI doubles by Eckett and Hess. A few batters later, Cancelliere had an RBI double of her own, scoring Hess from second. Bilotti was up next, shooting a two-run single to center.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Bilotti finished the game 2-for-3 with a triple and four RBIs.
  • Joining the multi-hit parade was Cancelliere and Eckett, who had two apiece.
  • Cancelliere added two runs scored and three RBIs to her stat sheet.
INSIDE THE CIRCLE:
  • Sophomore Kylee Schwind (9-4) went five innings, striking out four, while allowing six hits and one earned run.
UP NEXT:
  • Arcadia finishes the regular season on Tuesday with a twin bill at Delaware Valley. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
