FREDERICK, Md. – The Arcadia softball team swept Hood in MAC Commonwealth action Friday, taking game one, 2-1, and game two, 10-5. The Knights were led by junior
Kristin Cancelliere's two RBIs in the opener, before the team pounded out 17 hits in the night cap.
FOR THE RECORD:
- The Scarlet and Grey even its record out at 9-9, while improving to 5-1 in the conference.
- The Blazers are 10-12 on the year, and 1-5 against MAC Commonwealth competition.
GAME ONE: ARCADIA 2, HOOD 1
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Cancelliere drove in sophomore Tori Zangrilli when she reached on a fielder's choice in the top of the second inning.
- In the top of the sixth, Cancelliere hit a two-out double to plate sophomore Ashley Eckett. Hood scored its run in the bottom of the frame.

- Sophomore Kylee Schwind (5-2) tossed seven innings of one-run ball, while striking out nine.
- Kayli Paugh (4-6) threw a complete game, allowing two runs on seven hits.
GAME TWO: ARCADIA 10, HOOD 5
HOW IT HAPPENED:
- Arcadia jumped out to an early lead with four runs in the top of the first. Bilotti registered an RBI single to plate DeStefano, and advanced to third on a throwing error by the center fielder that allowed senior Amanda Hess to score.
- The Knights opened a 7-0 lead after plating three in the top of the fourth inning. Cancelliere scored on a sac fly from Bilotti, before freshman Alexa Vardiman plated two runs with a single three batters later.
- Hood scored four in the bottom of the fifth inning.
- Arcadia plated three more in the sixth, beginning with an RBI single from Bilotti that scored Hess. Bilotti later scored on a sac bunt from Zangrilli. Freshman Jackie Zwicker capped the Knights' scoring with an RBI single to bring in Burge.
INSIDE THE NUMBERS:
- The Scarlet and Grey registered a season-high 17 hits.
- DeStefano led the offense with a 4-for-5 outing, three stolen bases and two runs scored.
- Hess (3-for-4), Bilotti (2-for-5), Burge (2-for-4), Vardiman (2-for-4) and Zwicker (2-for-2) all had multi-hit games.
- Hess scored three times, while Bilotti and Burge each crossed the dish once.
- Burge swiped two bases.
IN THE CIRCLE:
- Sophomore Mary Pat Murray (4-5) threw all seven innings, striking out four batters.
- Sophia Leaman (6-5) allowed seven runs on 10 hits in four innings of work. Paugh allowed three runs on six hits in two innings of relief.
NOTES:
- Bilotti is on a 12-game hit streak.
- Burge has reached safely in 10 straight games.
