Williams’ Five Points Leads Men’s Lacrosse Past Albright for First Time in Program History

GLENSIDE, Pa. – Sophomore Austin Williams registered five points to lead the Arcadia men's lacrosse team past Albright Friday night, 9-8. The win marks the first time in program history that Arcadia had taken down the Lions.
 
FOR THE RECORD:
  • Arcadia moves to 5-3 on the season, with a 1-2 MAC Commonwealth record.
  • Albright dips to 3-7 overall and 1-2 in the conference.
COACH SAYS:
  • "It was a great team win on a short week," said head men's lacrosse coach Nick Taylor. "We knew conference wins would be tough to get, and I'm happy that we could grind one out tonight."
HOW IT HAPPENED:
  • The first frame was a defensive battle, seeing the score knotted at two. Arcadia saw scores from Williams and classmate Clo Muscara.
  • In the second stanza, the Scarlet and Grey scored the first three goals of the quarter, before the guests responded with two of their own. The Knights scores came from Muscara, Williams and freshman Brady Manion.
  • Arcadia held the advantage in the third, outscoring the Lions 3-2. Muscara, Manion and sophomore Josh Keitz all found the back of the net.
  • In the final frame, Albright attempted a comeback as they outscored the Knights 2-1, however the Scarlet and Grey pulled away with the victory. The lone Knight goal came from the stick of sophomore Tanner Pajakinas.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE:
  • Williams' five points came on two goals and three assists.
  • Muscara finished with four points on three goals and one assist.
  • Manion added three points with two goals and an assist.
  • Senior A.J. Beck picked up the win, while making 15 saves.
GAME NOTES:
  • Manion's assist was the first of his career.
  • Williams moves into third place all-time for assists (57) and is tied for fifth in program history with 31 goals.
  • Muscara moves into fourth place all-time with 56 points.
UP NEXT:
  • The Knights continue MAC Commonwealth play as they travel to Alvernia Wednesday April 11 at 7 p.m.
