Men's Soccer Stumbles at Stockton, 2-1

GALLOWAY, N.J. -- Stockton broke a 1-1 tie with a little over 15 minutes to play in producing a 2-1 win over the Arcadia men's soccer team on Wednesday night at G. Larry James Stadium.

Ryan Hammer scored his third goal of the season, a game-tying effort early in the second half, but it was not enough as the Knights fell to 2-3 on the season, while Stockton leveled its ledger at 3-3.

Eucario Solano opened the scoring for the Osprey's at the 3:52 mark with an unassisted tally for a 1-0 lead. The Knights, despite getting outshot 8-2 in the first half, kept their deficit at a single goal until Hammer's marker early in the second half.

The Osprey's got the game-winning goal from Christian Bik, with an assist from Solano, at the 74:28 mark.

IN GOAL: Jake Varrato allowed two goals and made two saves for the Knights, while his counterpart, Dino Gromitsaris, made one save with one goal allowed.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS: The 14 shots allowed by the Knights tied a season high, while the nine taken by Arcadia were just two more than their season-low of seven at King's on Sept. 1 … with the loss, the Knights fell to 1-7-1 against Stockton (formerly Richard Stockton) all-time … the Knights' only win in the series came back in 2000, and tonight's matchup was just the third meeting since that 2000 contest.

UP NEXT: Arcadia is at Susquehanna on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
