ABINGTON, Pa. – The Arcadia men's tennis team fell 6-3 to Penn State Abington in its season opening match on Wednesday.
The Knights went 2-1 in doubles on the day.
Nicholas Simeone and
Sal DiBenedetto dropped the opening doubles match 8-3 to Michael Litz and Pino He.
Alex Post and
Tim Zeng got the Knights on the board with an 8-4 win over Alex Sphabmixay and Nikolas Guenther.
Jaime Zeng Zhu and
John Zinzer picked up an 8-6 decision over Ilker Erkut and Youssef Omar to give the Knights a 2-1 advantage heading into singles.
Post was able to pull out a 6-3, 6-1 victory over Guenther in match number 5 of singles, but it was not enough as the Knights were unable to find their rhythm and could not keep pace with the Nittany Lions.
Arcadia will look to bounce back on September 27th when the Knights host Cabrini at 3 p.m. on Weiss courts.
