OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Stevenson women's volleyball team defeated Arcadia, 3-1, on Tuesday night in a rematch of last season's MAC Commonwealth Championship contest.

The Mustangs (10-6, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) outlasted the Knights (10-4, 3-1) 25-21, 20-25, 25-18, 25-23.

After dropping the first set, the Knights evened the match with a five-point win in the second. Tied at 4-4, Arcadia used a 9-2 run to assume a 13-6 lead on a service ace by
Julia Paliwodzinski. The Mustangs pulled to within three at 17-14, and inched even closer at 21-19 in looking for the sweep, but a 4-1 run to close out the set allowed AU to pull even at 1-1.

The third set featured seven lead ties before either team reached 10 points, but Stevenson took control with 6-0 run to go from up two (16-15) to up eight (22-14) behind the serving of Darian Hileman.

In the fourth set, the Knights took a 6-2 lead in an attempt to tie the match at 2-2, but the Mustangs came back to tie the contest at 6-6, and after AU took a brief lead, tied it again at 11-11. A 19-15 lead for the Mustangs was nearly erased by the Knights, who got to within 22-21 and 24-23 late in the set, but Stevenson ultimately sealed the win with a kill from Victoria Prokic.

Lauren Enfield led the Knights with 13 kills,
Shannon Ryan added eight and
Allison Elechko and
Katie Wilson each had five. Paliwodzinski posted 34 assists and 16 digs, while
Emily Eng led the team with 17 digs, and
Mackenzie Hale chipped in 11.
Maddie Sehrt had two solo blocks and a pair of block assists. Enfield and Paliwodzinksi each had three service aces for the Knights.

Katie Leftridge led the Mustangs with 17 kills, and Mackenzie Blevins chipped in 11. Caroline Dangel and Julie Nightwine notched 24 and 21 assists, respectively.

Arcadia is back in action on Friday when it opens play in the two-day Knight Classic against Scranton beginning at 5 p.m.
