GLENSIDE, Pa. -- A late goal by Cairn's Joey Weaver lifted the Highlanders to a 1-0 win over Arcadia's men's soccer team on Wednesday afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavillion.
Â
The Knights now stand at 3-5-1 on the season, while the Highlanders sit at 4-4-1.
Â
An Arcadia foul just outside of the 18, in the middle of the pitch, gave Cairn a free kick that Weaver snuck in just under the cross bar past a leaping
Matthew Goldberg for the only goal of the contest.
Â
IN GOAL: Goldberg played all 90:00 for the Knights and did not make a save. Cairn's Kameron Clark made on save in the net for the Highlanders.
Â
INSIDE THE NUMBERS: With only 19 shots combined, 10 for Cairn and nine for AU, the game featured precious few scoring opportunities … There were only two combined shots on goal, Weaver's goal and a strike from
Ryan Hammer that was turned aside … The Knights generated six corners in the game, to three for the Highlanders … The one shot on goal was the fewest taken by the Knights in a game this season, while the one surrendered tied their best defensive effort of the season.
Â
