GRANTHAM, Pa. -- The Arcadia women's basketball team fell at No. 8 Messiah 64-48 on Saturday afternoon.

The Knights are now 6-10 overall and 3-4 in the MAC Commonwealth while the eighth-ranked Falcons improved to 15-1 on the season and 7-0 in the conference. Messiah outscored the Knights 18-4 in the second quarter in an otherwise closely contested contest.

Sydney Cyr led the Knights with 10 points and added three rebounds.
Courtney Hoffman scored eight points and pulled down four boards, while
Taylor Fritz grabbed a team-high seven rebounds.

Outside of the second quarter, in which AU was held to 1 of 9 shooting, the Messiah only outscored the Knights by just two points. Arcadia shot 7 of 16 from the floor in the third quarter and 5 of 10 from the field in fourth and actually outscored the Falcons by four in the second half.

The Knights shot 37.8 percent (17-45) for the game and held Messiah to 38.6 percent (22-57). Â Arcadia also outrebounded the Falcons 38-29.

Maci Thornton led the Falcons with 24 points, including 5 of 11 shooting from long range. She also came up with seven steals. Alecia Rohrer grabbed 13 rebounds to go with her five points.

The Knights are back in action on Wednesday at Widener at 8 p.m.
