Taylor Dunn and
Julia Makowski scored 14 points apiece, but the Widener women's basketball team knocked off Arcadia 64-51 on Wednesday evening at the Schwartz Athletic Center.

The Knights are now 6-11 on the year and 3-5 in the MAC Commonwealth while Widener improves to 14-3 overall and 5-3 in league play.

Widener took an early 6-2 lead before five straight points, capped by a Makowski jumper, gave the Knights a 7-6 lead with under five minutes to play in the first quarter. The Pride retook the lead 10-7 on a Devan Rimmer layup, but AU closed out the period on a 6-2 run for a 13-12 lead after 10 minutes of play.

In the second quarter, Dunn drilled a pair of free throws to tie the game at 19-19 with a little over five minutes on the clock, but Widener responded with a 10-5 run for a 29-24 lead with 1:25 left and an eventual 31-25 lead at the break.

A 13-2 run by the Pride to begin the second half gave the hosts breathing room and a 44-27 lead midway through the third period.

Each team pulled down 41 rebounds and Arcadia shot 14 of 20 from the line (.700) while the Pride took only 10 free throws and connected on five.

Camille Menns pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, and Makowski, Menns and
Sydney Cyr all had three steals for the Knights.

Erin Phelan led the Pride with 16 points and added six rebounds. Devan Rimmer scored 16 points as well, and Mackenzie McCracken chipped in 12 points. Madison Ireland had nine points, six rebounds and seven assists.

Arcadia will play host to Lycoming on Saturday beginning at 12 p.m.
