POTSDAM, N.Y. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team began its three-match swing in New York Friday night at Clarkson, falling to the Golden Knights in straight sets.
Shannon Ryan and
Maddie Sehrt led the Knights with 13 and 11 kills, respectively, while
Julia Paliwodzinski added 27 assists in the effort.
The Knight faces a quick turnaround with a pair of matches at Union College Saturday afternoon.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The two sides were engaged in a tightly-contested first set to begin the match as neither side was able to pull ahead. Despite three Ryan kills down the stretch, Clarkson was able to pull away for a 25-18 first set victory.
-The Knights were unable to take the lead in the second set despite a 6-2 run in the middle stages of the second set thanks to four Golden Knight errors. Arcadia clawed its way back to get within four late, but could not complete the comeback, falling 25-20.
-The Golden Knights took nine of the first 11 points of the third set and later pulled away with a 9-0 run to take a 19-7 lead. The Knights battled back 5-0 run of their own powered by a pair of Sehrt kills, but Clarkson put the match away with a 25-16 victory in third set.
