READING, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's volleyball team officially clinched a berth in the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Tournament Wednesday night Alvernia with a 3-1 victory over the Golden Wolves.
Lauren Enfield logged 16 kills and
Olivia Hess led the way with 26 assists in the Knights' final regular season road conference match as Arcadia improved to 5-1 in Commonwealth play.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights were unable to take control of the first set in the early going - trailing by as much as four in the opener - before drawing even with Alvernia at 15-all thanks to a 5-1 run. The two sides arrived at a 22-22 tie before the Knights were able to take the first set with a pair of Alvernia errors and a
Kaylee Bumpus kill.
-After falling 25-23 in the second set to the Golden Wolves, the two sides were unable to pull ahead by more than two points until Alvernia rallied to take a 16-11 lead in the third. Trailing 20-15, the Knights responded by taking 11 of the last 15 points of the set - powered by kills by Enfield and
Michelle Frank along with a pair of
Emily Eng aces .- before Hess capped off the 26-24 set victory with an ace of her own.
-With the two sides tied at five in the fourth set, the Knights took control with seven-consecutive points led by four Enfield kills to jump out in front, 12-5. Arcadia limited the hosts to just 12 points in the fourth set and earned six of the set's final eight points - including
Allison Elechko's match-clinching kill - to finish off the match with a 25-12 win in the fourth.
