FREDERICKSBURG, Va. - The Arcadia University men's tennis team began its stay at the ITA Tournament hosted by Mary Washington Friday as
Jonathan Noble and
Nicholas Simeone were the lone representatives for the Knights. The duo advanced the quarterfinals of the doubles draw with a first round victory over Randolph College before heading into singles action to complete day one of competition.
DOUBLES RESULTS
-Simeone and Noble began the day with a dominant, 8-0 victory over Randolph's Karson Healy and Jose Merhej in the Round of 16 to advance to the quarterfinals. The Arcadia pairing then bowed out of the bracket after falling to Wilkes' Jack Maline and Larry Scartz, 5-8, but came all the way back from 0-6 to make it an interesting match.
SINGLES RESULTS
-Simeone was pitted against St. Mary's Jack Brandenburg in the Round of 16 and pulled off a come-from-behind victory (2-6, 6-4 (10-3)) to move on to the quarterfinals. He was then defeated by Goucher's Brian Kane, 6-1, 6-2.Â
-Noble, playing on the opposite side of the same singles draw, was defeated by Muhlenburg's Noah Sellinger 6-1, 6-0 in the Round of 16.
