No. 14/16 Women's Soccer Takes Down Lebanon Valley in Commonwealth Opener, 3-1

ANNVILLE, Pa. - The No. 14/16 Arcadia University women's soccer team opened its MAC Commonwealth slate Saturday afternoon at Lebanon Valley with a 3-1 victory over the Dutchmen, improving its road record to 4-1-1 in the process. The Knights had three different goal scorers on the afternoon, including Victoria Casey's first tally of the season.

Bridget Sway and Karlie Flowers also scored for the Knights in the conference victory, while Brianna Williams made five stops in net.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights wasted no time gaining an early advantage Saturday afternoon as the first corner of the match resulted in a goal. In the third minute, Kayla Murphy delivered a ball into the box that was deflected around before Casey got a foot on it and found the back of the net.

-Bridget Sway was awarded a penalty kick in the 16th minute and she made the most of her opportunity, sending her shot past the keeper for her third goal of the season to give the Knights a two-goal lead.

-Lebanon Valley answered in the 20th minute with a goal off of a corner kick to cut the Knight lead to one, but both defenses held strong the rest of the half as Arcadia took its 2-1 lead into the break.

-The Knights back line held true to form in the second half, limiting the Dutchmen to just one shot over the final 45 minutes. Flowers added an insurance tally in the 59th minute with a strike from 25 yards out - her third of the season - to lift the Knights to the 3-1 victory.
