Men's Soccer Advances to ECAC Quarterfinals with 3-0 Victory Over Wesley

GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's soccer team is moving on to the ECAC Division III Men's Soccer Championship Quarterfinals following a 3-0 victory over visiting Wesley Saturday afternoon from Jean Lenox West Field, powered by five points on a pair of goals and an assist from Duncan O'Connor. Connor Wright netted his first-career goal to open the scoring in the second half, while Jake Varrato made seven saves to log his eighth clean sheet of the season.

With the victory, the Knights have reached ten wins for the second time in the last three seasons.
 
HOW IT HAPPENED

-The Knights were outshot by a 7-1 margin in the first half, but Varrato was able to keep the Wolverines off the board to send the game to halftime scoreless.
-Wright opened the scoring in the 56th minute when O'Connor lifted a high cross from the left corner and the freshman headed it in for his first-career goal.
-Just two minutes later, O'Connor was back in the middle of the action when he came away with a steal and beat the Wolverine goalie to extend the Knight lead to two.
-With under three minutes in regulation, O'Connor put the game out of reach when a Wesley misplay resulted in a one-on-one opportunity before the junior finished in the bottom right corner of the net.

TEAM COMPARISON
-Wesley outshot the Knights, 15-6, in the match and also held the advantage in shots on goal, 7-4.
