GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team cruised to its third-straight victory to push its record over .500 in the early going of the 2019-20 season in Thursday night's 72-33 win over visiting Cedar Crest. The Knights led by as much as 41 in the contest, as three Knights finished the night in double-figures including
Taylor Fritz (14),
Holly Daveski (11) and
Joelle Bridges (11).
Fritz also paced the Knights in rebounds with eight, while
Olivia Wyckoff amd
Julia Makowski followed with seven each.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights got off to torrid start with a 10-0 run over the opening 2:45 of Thursday night's contest, as
Holly Daveski and
Julia Makowski combined for half of Arcadia's offensive output in the first quarter to end the frame with a 22-5 advantage. Arcadia held the Falcons to 2-of-13 (15.4%) shooting from the field in the first to race out to the 17-point lead while forcing nine Cedar Crest turnovers.
-The two sides struggled to get in rhythm offensively in the second quarter, resulting in a 10-9 Cedar Crest advantage in the period. However, the Knights remained stout on defense to cause a total of 14 turnovers in the half, converting those opportunities into 16 of its 31 points in the opening 20 minutes.
-Arcadia regained its first-quarter form to open the second half, outscoring the Falcons 21-5 to extend its lead to 32 by the end of the third quarter. The Knights began the third on a 12-0 run powered by eight points - including a pair of threes - from
Sydney Cyr along with a
Haley Still trey as Arcadia took a 52-20 lead into the fourth. Arcadia held the Falcons to just 2-of-12 shooting in the period.

Joelle Bridges netted 11 of the Knights' 20 fourth-quarter points on 5-of-7 shooting to tie for second on the team in points for the night, vaulting the Knights to a 39-point victory - their largest of the season thus far.
