Knights Tame Devils 16-7

GLENSIDE, Pa. -- The Arcadia men's lacrosse team picked up a 16-7 win over FDU-Florham on Saturday at Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavilion.

The Knights (4-4) hung seven first-quarter goals on the Devils (3-3) then survived a slugfest that saw a combined 23 penalties called. Eight different Knights recorded at least one point, including a career-high six (4g/2a) from Joe Pedisich. Conor Cunningham won 15 of 18 faceoffs with 11 ground balls, and Ryan Mahon, Clo Muscara and Wesley Sporer scored three goals apiece.

Offense came early and often for the Scarlet & Grey as AU put up seven first-quarter goals in taking a 7-0 lead after just 15 minutes of play. Tanner Pajakinas opened the scoring at the 11:49 mark, and Muscara scored off a feed from Pedisich to make it 2-0 at 8:46. Pedisich added his first goal 42 seconds later, and Brady Manion's 20th goal of the season at 5:58 pushed the lead to 4-0.

Pajakinas' man up goal 36 seconds after that made it 5-0, and Muscara closed out the period with back-to-back tallies to put AU on top 7-0.

The Devils scored three straight to open the second quarter, but Sporere halted that run with his first of the game to make it 8-3 with 7:01 left in the first half. Zane Johnston scored for FDU-Florham with 3:16 left in the half to cap the scoring.

The Knights opened the third with four straight goals in taking a 12-4 lead. Mahon scored twice and Pedisich and Sporer found the back the cage as well. The Knights' lead never fell below seven the rest of the way.

Arcadia enjoyed a 21-3 advantage in faceoffs won, contributing to a 48-35 edge in shots and a 46-23 advantage in ground balls. Grant Palmer started in the cage and picked up the win, making nine saves and allowing four goals in 30:00. Brendan Kuzminkski played the second half in the cage and made six saves with three goals allowed. Adam Reifer started in goal for the Devils and made 14 saves with 12 goals allowed in 40:52.

Mahon and Muscara added five and four ground balls, respectively, and Pajakinas chipped in three ground balls and a caused turnover.

Joe Guido had three assists to lead the Devils. Drew Bukowiec and John Belanger scored two goals apiece.
