Knights Handle Mount Saint Mary 19-7

GLENSIDE, Pa. -- Arcadia scored a season-high 19 goals, 18 coming in the final three quarters, in cruising to a 19-7 win over Mount Saint Mary on Wednesday night at Jean Lenox West Field and Delran Pavilion.

Eleven different players scored at least one goal as the Knights got back above .500 in improving to 5-4 on the season. Mount Saint Mary slipped to 3-6 on the season.

Despite outshooting MSMC 11-7 in the first quarter, the Scarlet & Grey trailed 2-1 after one. Three goals in a span of 44 seconds to open the second quarter changed the course of the game. A 2:00, non-releasable cross check on MSMC's Chris Maggio resulted in three AU goals and put the Knights up 4-2. Brady Manion, CJ Sherlock and Clo Muscara scored 44 seconds apart, with Tanner Pajakinas picking up a pair of assists during the run.

Maraio scored his second of the game for Mount Saint Mary, but Muscara and JP Shaaber countered for AU to make it 6-3 with 2:32 left in the half. An MSMC goal with 1:35 left in the half gave AU a 6-4 lead at recess.

The third quarter saw the Knights tally their second 7-goal quarter in as many games. After opening Saturday's win over FDU-Florham with seven first-quarter goals, the Knights scored the first seven of the third on Wednesday, including goals from six different players, to take a 13-4 lead with 4:55 left in the period. The Knights nearly repeated the feat, scoring six more in the fourth to pull away.

Grant Palmer started in the cage and played the first 45:00, recording five saves and allowing five goals. Brendan Kuzminski and Connor Haines played the final 15:00 and combined to make three saves with two goals allowed. Eli Laikin was credited with 14 saves and 17 goals allowed for Mount Saint Mary in 55:38.

Arcadia launched 56 shots to 26 for MSMC. The Knights also held a 23-7 edge in faceoffs won, and a 54-38 advantage in ground balls. Connor Cunningham was 17 of 21 at the faceoff X, while Philip Hane was 6 for 9.

Muscara finished with eight points (4g/4a) to lead the Knights. Manion (2g/2a), Wesley Sporer (3g/1a) and Pajakinas (2g/2a) all had four points. Joe Pedisich added three goals for his second straight hat trick. Josh Keitz picked up a game-high nine ground balls, Parker Hartline had three caused turnovers and five ground balls, and Joe Trovato added four caused turnovers and four ground balls.

Arcadia hits the road on Saturday to take on Hood in its MAC Commonwealth opener beginning at 1 p.m.
