GLENSIDE, Pa. – The Arcadia softball team split with Stockton Thursday afternoon at Blankley Field. AU dropped the first game, 4-2 in eight innings before picking up a 10-0 victory in game two in five innings. With the split, the Knights hold an 18-8 overall record and the Ospreys are now 15-13 on the season.

Stockton 4, Arcadia 2 (8 inns.)
In game one, Stockton pitcher Victoria Torp was perfect through 4.0 full innings. Alexis Burge tripled to right field to lead off the fifth for the Knights' first hit. Tori Zangrilli followed with a sacrifice fly to left field, bringing in Burge for the games' first run.

The Scarlet & Grey held onto the 1-0 lead heading into the top of the seventh. The Ospreys tied the game on an one-out single by Casey Schieda to plate Meg Murzello, who singled earlier in the inning.

Arcadia was unable to score in the bottom of the inning.

In the top of the eighth, Stockton scored three runs on three hits. Angie Dunphy led off with a sacrifice bunt to move Marissa Fulcher to third, who pinch ran for Ashley Lobell at second base to begin the inning. Lilley James and Liani James recorded back-to-back RBI hits on a double and a single, respectively. Murzello capped off the scoring with a single to right center, extending the lead to 4-1.

AU was able to muster one run on a RBI groundout by Kristin Cancelliere in the bottom of the inning, but it was not enough as the Knights fell, 4-2.

Arcadia collected only three hits with tallies coming from Burge, Alex DeStefano and Alexa Vardiman.

Torp (3-6) went all 8.0 innings for Stockton as she allowed two runs (1 ER) on three hits and two walks with one strikeout.

As for the Knights, Kylee Schwind (6-5) also went the distance, surrendering four runs (3 ER) on nine hits and five walks to go along with four strikeouts.

Arcadia 10, Stockton 0 (5 inns.)
Arcadia made quick work of Stockton in game two as the Knights amassed 10 runs on 13 hits to earn the doubleheader split.

The Scarlet & Grey jumped out a 2-0 advantage in the first inning on RBI singles by Hunter Schantz and Burge.

AU extended its lead to 8-0 with six runs on six hits and one error in the third inning. Tori Zangrilli kicked off the scoring with a two-run single to right center. Ashley Eckett came up next and lifted a sacrifice fly to left field to plate Burge. After Zangrilli stole second base, Morgan Marchesani knocked her in with a single past a diving second baseman. Marchesani then stole second and scored on an infield single by Vardiman. DeStefano capped off the outburst with a single to left field to bring around Vardiman.

The Knights' final two tallies came in the fourth on a bases loaded walk by Marchesani and a Cancelliere infield single to score Eckett to secure the 10-0 victory.

DeStefano led the offense with three hits and two runs scored. Three Knights chipped in two hits each as well. Zangrilli and Marchesani knocked in two runs apiece.

Mary Pat Murray picked up her team-leading ninth win in the complete-game shut-out. Murray scattered four hits in 5.0 innings of work.
