AMBLER, Pa. -- A four-run sixth inning lifted the Hood baseball team to a 9-7 win over Arcadia on Friday afternoon at Skip Wilson Field.

Arcadia now stands at 17-8 on the season and 10-3 in league play, while Hood is now 18-9-1 overall and 9-4 in the MAC Commonwealth.

The Blazers broke a 5-5 tie with four runs in the top of the sixth inning for a 9-5 lead. Arcadia halved its deficit with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame and managed to bring the tying run to the plate in the ninth but was unable to complete the comeback.

The Knights led 3-2 through three innings of play, getting an RBI groundout from
Phil Pierfy in the first, an RBI double from Pierfy in the third and a sacrifice fly fomr
Trevor Mattson in the same inning to inch ahead 3-2.

The Blazers took a 5-3 lead in the fourth on a three-run triple off the bat of Nathan Kessel. Arcadia made it 5-4 in the fourth when
Bryan Gillen singled home
Nick Ponente, then tied it 5-5 in the fifth on
Anthony Zupito's double that brought home Pierfy.

After Hood's six-run sixth, AU got an RBI single from
Sean Carew and a sacrifice fly from Pierfy to pull within 9-7. In the ninth inning, Pierfy singled with one out and moved to second on a groundout, but a groundout stranded Pierfy there and ended the game.

Jeremy Sabathne (5-2) took the loss for AU, allowing nine runs on 10 hits and four walks with two strikeouts in 5.2 innings.
Luke Fournier pitched 3.1 innings of scoreless relief, allowing ust four hits.

Pierfy and Gillen had three base hits apiece, part of a 10-hit day for the Knights. Pierfy drove in three, and Gillen and
Zak Thomas each scored twice. Gillen added a stolen base as did Zupito.

The two teams will wrap up the conference series on Saturday afternoon in Frederick, Md., with a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
