AMBLER, Pa. -- A four-run sixth inning lifted the Hood baseball team to a 9-7 win over Arcadia on Friday afternoon at Skip Wilson Field.

Arcadia now stands at 17-8 on the season and 10-3 in league play, while Hood is now 18-9-1 overall and 9-4 in the MAC Commonwealth.

The Blazers broke a 5-5 tie with four runs in the top of the sixth inning for a 9-5 lead. Arcadia halved its deficit with a pair of runs in the bottom of the frame and managed to bring the tying run to the plate in the ninth but was unable to complete the comeback.

The Knights led 3-2 through three innings of play, getting an RBI groundout from Phil Pierfy in the first, an RBI double from Pierfy in the third and a sacrifice fly fomr Trevor Mattson in the same inning to inch ahead 3-2.

The Blazers took a 5-3 lead in the fourth on a three-run triple off the bat of Nathan Kessel. Arcadia made it 5-4 in the fourth when Bryan Gillen singled home Nick Ponente, then tied it 5-5 in the fifth on Anthony Zupito's double that brought home Pierfy.

After Hood's six-run sixth, AU got an RBI single from Sean Carew and a sacrifice fly from Pierfy to pull within 9-7. In the ninth inning, Pierfy singled with one out and moved to second on a groundout, but a groundout stranded Pierfy there and ended the game.
