Baseball Drops Doubleheader at Hood

FREDERICK, Md. – The Arcadia baseball was swept by Hood in two very close affairs Saturday. The Knights dropped game one 1-0 and game two 2-0. With the losses, AU slips to 17-12 overall and 10-5 in the MAC-Commonwealth. Hood improves to 20-9 on the season and 11-4 in conference play.

A sacrifice fly by Andrew Wenner in the fourth inning to score Jordan Patterson was the difference as Hood took the first game, 1-0.
 
The Blazers only managed three hits in the contest with one hit apiece coming from Brad Sawyer, Wenner and Alex Staton.
 
As for the Knights, Matt Ernst tallied two of the Knights' four hits. Phil Pierfy and Anthony Zupito recorded one base knock each.
 
Nate Luscombe picked up the complete game win for Hood as he allowed four hits and struck out two.
 
The loss was pinned to Tyler Showers as he lasted 4.0 innings, surrendering the one run on three hits and five walk as he fanned three. Owen Margolis went the final two frames for AU.
 
Hood 2, Arcadia 0
Two Blazers runs, one in the first and one in the third innings, helped the home squad to a 2-0 game two victory.
 
In the first, Dylan Beck singled through the left side to bring in Nate Kessler to go ahead 1-0.
 
Two innings later, Wenner reached on a fielder's choice, allowing Beck to score from third, securing the 2-0 win.
 
Hood collected eight hits with three different Blazers tallying two hits apiece, including doubles from Kessler and Wenner.
 
The Scarlet & Grey were only able to amass four hits a team, with singles coming from Sean Carew, Pierfy, Dylan Towey and Nick Ponente.
 
Another Blazer earned a win in complete fashion as Jordan Patterson permitted four hits and two walks to go along with six strikeouts.
 
Joel Bartoni went the distance as well for the Knights as he allowed the two runs on eight hits and two walks with three strikeouts.
 
Arcadia returns to the friendly confines of Skip Wilson on April 16. First pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
