Ferlow's 7 Goals Not Enough for Women's Lacrosse

CHESTER, Pa. -- Michaela Ferlow scored a career-high seven goals but the Arcadia women's lacrosse team fell at Widener 19-11 on Wednesday night at Dixon Field.

The Pride used a 6-0 run to close out the first half to take a 9-3 lead into the break then scored the first goal of the second half for a seven-goal lead with 28:48 to play. Arcadia answered with three straight goals, including two from Ferlow in cutting the deficit to 10-6 with 26:06 left.

Widener answered with three tallies to regain a seven-goal cushion (13-6) before Ferlow notched a pair of goals just 1:08 apart, her fourth and fifth goals of the contest, that put the score at 13-8 with just under 20 minutes to play. Five is as close as AU would manage to pull, however, despite two more goals from Ferlow down the stretch.

Each team scored in the first two minutes of the contest in a fast start, and by the 18:57 mark of the first half the score was level at 3-3. Julia Imbert opened the scoring for the Knights, and Ferlow and Jess Kaye found the back of the cage as well.

Veandra Selby made 15 saves in the cage for AU, while Maddie Medve and Katie Hayes combined to make 10 saves for the Pride. Widener held a 41-27 edge in shots and won 18 draw controls to 13 for the Scarlet & Grey.

Imbert finished with a goal and three assists for the Knights and added four draw controls and a pair of ground balls. Kaye had two goals and six draw controls, and Nicole Kress handed out one assist with a pair of caused turnovers and two draw controls.

Arcadia is at Stevenson on Saturday beginning at 1 p.m.
