ASTON, Pa. – Bryan Gillen recorded four hits, including breaking the program's all-time hits record, to lead the Arcadia baseball team to a 12-4 victory over Neumann Tuesday afternoon. The win moves Arcadia to 15-7 overall, while Neumann falls to 9-11 on the season.

AU kicked things off in the second inning on an RBI single by Zach Sekelick to plate Nick Ponente. Gillen followed with a double to bring in Sekelick to take the early 2-0 advantage.

In the third inning, Trevor Mattson scored the Scarlet & Grey's third run as Zak Thomas got into a rundown between first and second base, allowing Mattson to sneak home.

Neumann answered with two runs in the fourth on two hits and one error to slice the deficit to 3-2.

Arcadia then put up three tallies in the fifth frame on five hits. In the inning, Phil Pierfy doubled to drive in Towey, who reached on a fielder's choice. Mattson was up next and reached on an infield single, bringing home Sean Carew. Lastly, Ponente singled to shortshop, bringing in Pierfy to extend the lead to 6-2.

AU tacked on two runs in the seventh and four more in the eighth with the big blows coming on a Ponente two-run single in the eighth followed by a Sekelick bases loaded infield single to plate Thomas.

Neumann pushed across runs in the eighth and the ninth on singles by Andrew La Rosa and Curt Yenchik, but Arcadia's offense was too much as it pulled away for the 12-4 win.

Gillen now has 225 career hits, breaking the record of 221 set by Justin Loomi (2002-2005). Pierfy, Ponente and Sekelick also helped the charge with three hits apiece. Carew and Thomas each tallied two base knocks as well as AU amassed 21 hits as a team.

Rob Lichtenberger earned the win for Arcadia as he went 6.0 innings, surrendering two runs (0 ER) on four hits with six strikeouts. Owen Margolis and Pierfy finished the final three innings, allowing two runs on four hits while striking out two.

As for Neumann, Phil Sanborn lasted 5.0 innings, scattering 13 hits and giving up six runs (5 ER). Three other relievers followed and gave up six runs on eight hits.
