AMBLER, Pa. – The Arcadia baseball team held off visiting Lebanon Valley as the Knights swept a Saturday doubleheader by scores of 6-2 and 9-4, respectively.

The Scarlet & Grey, who have already clinched a spot in the MAC Commonwealth Championships, moved their record to 22-12 on the campaign and 13-5 in conference games. Lebanon Valley falls to 14-19 overall and 6-12 in the MAC Commonwealth. In between games, AU recognized its eight seniors, Joel Bartoni, Sean Carew, Bryan Gillen, Phil Pierfy, Nick Ponente, Nick Roda, Anthony Zupito and student-manager David Lotito.

The Knights jumped out to an early lead and never looked back as they cruised to a 6-2 game one victory.

Back-to-back RBI doubles by Carew and Pierfy in the first inning pushed AU out to a 2-0 advantage.

A Pierfy single in the third inning to knock in Ponente extended the Knights lead to 3-0.

In the fifth, Zupito made his senior day a memorable one as he hit his first career home run. His two-run bomb pushed Arcadia's lead up to 5-0.

The Dutchmen tried to mount a comeback with a two-run single in the sixth, but a Pierfy sacrifice fly in the bottom of the frame sealed the 6-2 win.

The Knights offense was powered by two-hit days from Carew, Pierfy and Zak Thomas.

Bartoni (7-1) toed the rubber for the Scarlet & Grey for 6.0 innings as he allowed two runs on five hits and two walks with six strikeouts. Mitch Blake closed out the game in order in the seventh, striking out two, picking up his four save of the season.

Arcadia 9, Lebanon Valley 4
A seven-run fifth inning vaulted the Knights to a 9-4 comeback victory in game two.

Lebanon Valley led 4-0 heading into the bottom of the fifth frame.

The Dutchmens' starting pitcher, Branden Ward, was in the midst of a no-hitter until Trevor Mattson singled to start the fifth. Things then went from great to worse for Ward as he surrendered all seven runs on six hits and two walks in the inning before being pulled.

Arcadia added two insurance runs in the sixth on a Dylan Towey single to plate Thomas. Towey later scored on a wild pitch to secure the 9-4 victory.

Towey was the spark plug for Arcadia as he entered as a pinch hitter in the fifth. Towey tallied two hits, one RBI and scored twice in two at-bats. Gillen and Carew knocked in two runs apiece as well.

Owen Margolis entered in the third inning as starting pitcher Tyler Showers only lasted 2.2 innings. Margolis earned the win as he worked the next 3.1 frames, permitting one run (0 ER) on three hits with one strikeout.

The Knights are at Misericordia on Monday beginning at 3:30 p.m.
