Bilotti Sets Hits Record, Knights Split at LVC

ANNVILLE, Pa. -- Jackie Bilotti became the all-time hits leader in Arcadia softball history on Saturday as the Knights split a doubleheader at Lebanon Valley at LVC Softball Park.

The Dutchmen picked up a 4-3 win in game one and AU came back to post a 6-0 shutout in game two to salvage a split. The Knights are now 27-11 on the season and 13-3 in league play. Lebanon Valley is 18-20 overall and 7-9 in the MAC Commonwealth.

Already the all-time leader in stolen bases, Bilotti's first-inning single in game one gave her 223 hits in her illustrious career and moved her ahead of Cindia Lukomski '05 for the top spot all-time. She finished 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run scored. With two more base knocks in the nightcap, Bilotti now has 226 hits in her career.

Lebanon Valley 4, Arcadia 3
The Dutchmen scored an unearned run in the fifth inning to break a 3-3 tie and escape with the upset win to open play. The Knights outhit LVC 10-8 in the game, but committed three errors.

Trailing 3-1 entering the fifth, Alex DeStefano and Bilotti led off with back-to-back singles to begin the frame. A fielder's choice erased DeStefano at third, but still gave the Knights runners on first and second. An LVC error allowed Bilotti to score and pinch runner Ashley Eckett advanced to third with one out.

Eckett tied the game at 3-3 on a wild pitch, and a walk to Alexis Burge put the go-ahead run on base. Following a popout for the second out, Alexa Vardiman reached on LVC's second error of the frame and Burge made it to third, but a strikeout swinging ended the threat and the game remained tied.

In the bottom of the fifth, a single and an error gave the Dutchmen runners on first and second. Following a strikeout for the first out, a ground ball to third resulted in a second error and allowed the go-ahead run to cross the plate for a 4-3 lead.

The Knights put runners on base in the sixth and seventh, but were unable to find the tying run.

Mary Pat Murray was tagged with the loss, allowing four runs (3 ER) on eight hits and a walk with six strikeouts in 6.0 innings. DeStefano and Hunter Schantz had two hits apiece, and Kristin Cancelliere was 1 for 4 with a run scored.

Arcadia 6, Lebanon Valley 0
Kylee Schwind tossed her second straight one-hitter, stifling the Dutchmen over 7.0 innings to improve to 11-6 on the season. The junior yielded just a second-inning single to go with a pair of walks and two strikeouts.

At the plate, Schantz was 3 for 3 with a double and drove in two while scoring once. Bilotti was 2 for 3 and scored twice, while Cancelliere added two hits and a run scored. Vardiman drove in two runs and Burge was 1 for 2 with a walk.
Schwind was provided all the offense she needed in the first inning as Schantz laced a double to center that allowed DeStefano and Cancelliere to score. The Knights tacked on two more runs in the third on Vardiman's two-run single to make it 4-0.

Burge walked on a wild pitch in the fourth that allowed Bilotti to race home with AU's fifth run, and Bekah Good's double to left plated Eckett and capped the scoring.

The Knights have one more tuneup before the MAC Championships, in which they will be the No. 1 seed. Arcadia travels to Stevens on Tuesday for a doubleheader beginning at 4 p.m.
