Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Hoffman Scores Hat Trick as Knights Top Nationally Ranked Misericordia

DALLAS, PA. - Mackenzie Hoffman scored three goals in 10-minutes to lead the Arcadia University women's soccer team to a 3-0 victory over #16/#22 Misericordia University, Saturday night.

After a scoreless first half, Hoffman scored goals in the 47th, 51st and 57th minutes to lift the Knights offense. Victoria Casey, Kayla Murphy and Erin Vander Plaat provided the assists, respectively.

Brianna Williams recorded her fourth straight shutout to lower her goals against average to 0.19 on the season. She hasn't allowed a goal since the sixth minute versus Montclair State on Sept. 1.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Hoffman tallied the opening score in the 47th minute. Following an Arcadia throw-in, Vander Plaat deflected a pass off Sarah Walsh's shoulder, which set up a Riley Nyhus shot on goal. Hoffman then gathered Nyhus' rebound and elevated the ball above the sliding keeper.

- Four minutes later, Hoffman struck again with her second goal of the contest. Murphy lobbed a cross from the far right side to connect with Hoffman on the run.

- In the 57th minute, Hoffman completed the hat trick following a beautiful through ball from Vander Plaat, which created an open lane for junior forward. Hoffman made a juke on the Cougars defender and elevated the ball to the far side post.

- Williams and the Knights defense continued to shutdown opposing offenses with their fifth shutout of the season. The keeper faced eight shots and made three saves to blank the Cougars.
