Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Flowers' Second-Half Strike Lifts No. 17/19 Women's Soccer to Fifth-Straight Victory

GLENSIDE, Pa. - Karlie Flowers buried her second goal of the season in the 75th minute to lift the No. 17/19 Arcadia University women's soccer team to its fifth-straight victory, a 1-0 decision over Rowan Wednesday afternoon at Jean Lenox West Field. With the result, the Knights remain unblemished at home in the 2019 season through four of its nine scheduled home contests.

Brianna Williams recorded her fifth-straight clean sheet in net for the Knights - and sixth overall on the season - with four saves in net, improving her record to a perfect 6-0 in the process.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights looked poised to strike early in the match, as Erin Vander Plaat's header from just outside the Rowan third was met perfectly by Veronica Garcia, but her go on net was knocked away by the Prof keeper.

-In the 32nd minute, Emily Readinger had a chance to break the scoreless tie with a shot on goal from just inside the right edge of the 18, but her shot was met with a diving save as the two sides entered halftime scoreless.

-The second half opened with a flurry of chances for the Knights that went just wide of the woodwork before Rowan posed a threat to take the game's first lead. In the 57th minute and the Profs moving the ball down the field, the visitors got off a shot from the top of the 18 but Williams made a terrific leaping save to deflect the ball off the crossbar, allowing the Knights to clear out of their own territory.

-The Knights were awarded a free kick in the 75th minute from just inside midfield that was deflected around the top of the 18 where Flowers met it with her left foot and buried it into the upper right corner of the net past the sprawling Rowan keeper for the eventual game-winning goal. The Arcadia back line held strong for the final 15 minutes to preserve its fifth shutout victory of the season.
