No. 17/19 Women's Soccer Wins Sixth Straight, Records Seventh Shutout of the Season

Wilkes-Barre, Pa. - The No. 17/19 Arcadia University women's soccer team defeated Wilkes University, 3-0, to capture its sixth straight victory and seventh shutout of the season. Riley Nyhus, Erin Vander Plaat and Gabby Rhoads provided the scoring while Kayla Murphy was credited with the game's only assist for her team-leading third assist of the season. 

Brianna Williams and the Knights defense continued to put together a remarkable 2019 campaign. Williams recorded her sixth straight shutout in goal, while Arcadia's defense held the Colonels to just one shot on goal. 

HOW IT HAPPENED
- After a scoreless first half, the Knights pulled away with a total team effort on offense. Nyhus got the Knights started in the 48th minute with a chip shot for the game's opening score and her first goal of the season. 

-  Vander Plaat tallied her third goal of the season with an assist from Murphy in the 66th minute. Murphy connected with Vander Plaat's foot on a corner kick to give the Knights a 2-0 lead. 

- The Knights struck once more for their third score of the second half with a goal from Rhoads in the 88th minute. It was the sophomore's first goal of the season. 

- Arcadia's defense continued to be a dominant force for the Knights. Williams lowered her goals against average to a stunning 0.12, which ranks seventh in the nation, while her teammates swarmed the Colonels attack, allowing just one shot on goal.
