Game Recap: Field Hockey |

Rojas, Sammons Spark Field Hockey to Midweek Win over William Paterson

GLENSIDE, Pa. - Victoria Rojas and Regan Sammons recorded their first career goals to lift the Arcadia University field hockey team to a resounding 2-1 victory Wednesday night to snap the Knights' four-game skid. Goalie Ashton Evans provided 58 scoreless minutes in the cage for the Knights while making a game-high seven saves to pick up her first win of the season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights were quick to strike in the first five minutes of Wednesday night's non-conference matchup, as Sydney Cyr found Rojas on the right side of the circle and immediately elevated a high-arcing shot to the far post over the head of the William Paterson goalie and into the cage for the game's first goal.

-Arcadia held its one-goal lead - and the shutout - all the way through the latter stages of the fourth quarter as Evans thwarted every Pioneer scoring chance sent her way, including coming up big with four saves in the final 15 minutes.

-With just under seven minutes remaining, Sammons gave Evans an insurance tally when Michaela Ferlow found the freshman in front of the cage and Sammons hammered it home to put the Knights up 2-0. The Pioneers rallied to cut the deficit to one with just under two minutes remaining in regulation, but the Arcadia defense held strong to preserve the 2-1 victory.
