GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University men's soccer team defeated Ursinus College, 2-0, in the squad's home opener, Wednesday night.
Jake Varrato had another dominant performance, earning his second consecutive shutout victory.
Duncan O'Connor and
Daniel Tittelmayer both collected their first tallies of the season to lead the Knights offense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- O'Connor got the Knights started with a goal in the 15th minute. The junior carried the ball towards the center of the box and ripped a shot past the goalkeeper to the near side of the post. Moments later,
Harun Abdullahi nearly connected on his third goal of the season, but had it called back after an offsides penatly.
- After a stellar freshman campaign, Tittelmayer netted his first goal of 2019 in the 23rd minute of tonight's contest.
Keegan Bower fed Tittelmayer from the right corner, who juggled the pass and elevated a shot just past the Bears goalkeeper.
- Varrato led the Knights with another stellar performance in net. The sophomore made a game-high five saves, including a diving stop on a free kick from just outside the box to rob the Bears of a scoring opportunity.
