Dominant Second Half Sends Women's Basketball to Commonwealth Win at Alvernia

READING, Pa. - Holly Daveski posted a game-high 15 points and Julia Makowksi recorded her second double-double of the season with 11 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Arcadia University women's basketball team to crucial Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth victory over Alvernia Wednesday night, 60-48. After the two sides were tied at the half, the Knights came out and shot 44.8 percent (13-for-29) in the final two quarters to down the host Golden Wolves, while improving their record to 6-2 on the road this season.

Taylor Dunn also ended the night in double-figures, pouring in 12 points while Sydney Cyr added seven assists and seven rebounds.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights fell into an early five-point deficit in the first three minutes of the contest, but an 8-2 run powered by a pair of buckets from Daveski and Sydney Barrer vaulted Arcadia to its first lead of the night before the two sides were deadlocked at 14 at th end of the opening quarter.

-Arcadia and Alvernia were unable to create any separation in the second quarter despite nine points from Dunn in the period, as a Daveski layup as time expired sent the Knights and Golden Wolves to the break tied at 30-all.

-After a Cyr three-pointer at the 3:46 mark of the third quarter tied the game at 39, the Knights took off on a 10-3 run to the end of the quarter to take its largest lead of the night to that point at seven, highlighted by jumpers from Taylor Fritz, Jamie Manzo, and Makowski, as well as a Dunn three-ball.

-The Knights outscored the Golden Wolves 11-6 in the final quarter to take total advantage late - stretching their lead out to a game-high 12 - as Arcadia held Alvernia scoreless for the final 5:38 of the game to run away with the 60-48 victory.

-The Knights were dominant inside all night, scoring 32 of its 60 points in the paint.
