Men's Volleyball Splits at St. Joseph's (LI) Tri-match

PATCHOGUE, NY - The #10 Arcadia University men's volleyball team split this weekend's tri-match with a 3-1 victory over St. Joseph's College (LI) and loss versus Sacred Heart University, 3-1. 

Quinn Baily and Jason Manley each had 21 combined kills to lead Arcadia's attack, while Anthony Devantier collected 86 assists on the afternoon. Zayne George led the Knights on the defensive side with a team-high 22 digs, while Robie Moctezuma led the way with five blocks. 

MATCH 1: #10 ARCADIA 1, SACRED HEART 3
- Sacred Heart began to distance themselves midway through the first set with five-straight points to pull ahead, 15-10. The Knights shrunk their deficit, but ended up dropping the opening set 25-20.
- Arcadia tied things up with a 25-23 victory in the second set. Trailing by one point midway through the set, Arcadia rallied off three consecutive points to take a 17-15 lead. The Knights controlled the lead for the remainder of the set.
- The Pioneers had a commanding 25-15 victory in the third set. Following a 5-0 run from the Knights, which pulled the squad within three points, Sacred Heart rallied off the last seven points of the set to take a 2-1 set advantage.
- Sacred Heart wrapped up play with a 25-20 victory in the fourth set. Despite an early lead from the Knights, Sacred Heart put together a 10-1 run to take a 20-14 lead, which changed the momentum of the set.

MATCH 2: #10 ARCADIA 3, St. Joseph's (LI) 1
- The Knights started off strong with a 25-21 win in the opening set. With the game knotted at 21-21, Arcadia claimed victory with the final four points of the opening set. Following two Eagle errors, Manley forced set point with a service ace, while Austin Braas ended the set with a kill. 
- Arcadia won the second set, 25-21, to put the Eagles at the brink of defeat. The Knights started the match off hot with the opening four points, which featured kills from Manley, Baily and Moctezuma. After St. Joseph's rallied back, Arcadia distanced themselves once more with a 7-2 rally, which gave the squad a 20-13 lead. 
- After St. Joseph's avoided defeat with a 25-20 victory in the third set, Arcadia took care of business with a fourth set victory, 25-19. The Knights were propelled to victory by a 5-0 run midway through the set, which gave the squad a 19-12 advantage. Following a kill from Jarod Pichler, Braas clinched victory with his ninth kill of the contest.
