READING, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team couldn't overcome a sluggish second half as they fell at #12 Albright College, 70-48, on Wednesday night.
Julia Makowski collected a team-high 16 points with six rebounds, while
Taylor Fritz added 10 points. Despite heading into halftime with a tied score, the Knights were outscored 39-17 in the second half.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights ended the last five minutes of the first quarter with an 11-2 run to take a four point lead. Makowski tallied eight points during the stretch, including a three-pointer to cap off the squad's rally.
- Fritz opened the second quarter with a jump shot to take Arcadia's largest lead of the night, 17-11. However, the Lions answered with a 13-6 run to regain the lead, 24-23, with 4:21 remaining in the quarter. The Knights tied up the game heading into halftime after two free throws from
Taylor Dunn as time expired.
- Albright outscored the Knights 18-4 in the third quarter. After both teams were held scoreless for the opening three minutes, the Lions rallied off seven unanswered points to distance themselves from the Knights.
Jamie Manzo knocked down Arcadia's lone field goal of the quarter at the 3:34 mark, but fell victim to an 11-2 run to end the quarter.
- The Lions further distanced themselves with a 21-13 advantage in the fourth quarter. Albright opened the stanza with five unanswered points to pull ahead 54-35. The Lions expanded their lead beyond 20 points with 3:17 remaining.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- The Knights shot 30.8 percent from the field on the evening, while Albright shot 45.0 percent.
- Arcadia struggled from deep, shooting 16.7 percent (2-for-12) from three-point range.
- The Knights shot a perfect 14-for-14 from the free throw line.
- Arcadia lost the turnover battler 18-10 and were outscored 23-4 on points off turnovers.
