GLENSIDE, Pa. - Clo Muscara netted a career-high eight goals to lead the Arcadia University men's lacrosse team to a dominant victory in its 2020 season-opener, downing visiting Saint Vincent, 21-2. The Knights had nine different goal-scorers in the effort, as Welsey Sporer and
Jackson Earley provided hat tricks while
Ryan Anderson added a pair of tallies on the afternoon.
Timmy Fyock made eight saves in the cage and yielded only one goal to pick up the victory before
Brendan Kuzminski and
Michael DiRienzo finished out the game in net and combined for five saves.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights opened the 2020 season with six-straight goals in the game's first ten minutes coming from five different players. Muscara netted two during the stretch while Earley,
Ryan Anderson,
Ryan Mahon, and
Josh Keitz all added single tallies. Muscara then capped off the first quarter with his third goal of the day at the 3:06 mark as the Knights took a 7-1 lead into the second.
-Arcadia shut out the Bearcats and limited them to just five shots and in the second quarter while the Arcadia offense continued to pour it on, adding six more tallies to take a 12-goal lead into the half. Muscara netted a pair on man-up opportunities in a three-goal quarter for the senior, and Sporer and
Tanner Pajakinas netted their firsts of the game to pad the commanding lead.
-The Knights again held Saint Vincent scoreless in the third quarter as the Bearcats mustered only two shots on goal in the period. Arcadia's five goals in the quarter came from five different scorers, including
Brian Albertsen's first of the season at the 11:39 mark to open the second half.
-Sporer completed his hat trick with the first tally of the fourth quarter before Muscara netted his career-high eighth shortly after. Nick Cimiluca provided the Knights' final goal of the day with his first of the season as Arcadia rolled to a 21-2 victory.

TEAM COMPARISON
-Arcadia out-shot the Bearcats by a wide margin, 61-20, and more than doubled their shots on goal output, 36-15.
-The Knights caused 26 turnovers and committed only 19 of their own.
-Arcadia held Saint Vincent to just 10 successful clears on 22 attempts, while the Knights were 20-for-25.
-The Knights also held the edge in faceoff wins, 17-10.
