GLENSIDE, Pa. - The Arcadia University women's basketball team was unable to come out of an early first-half hole to visiting Widener Tuesday night, falling to the Pride in MAC Commonwealth action, 73-50.
Taylor Dunn turned in her third-straight and eleventh overall game of 20-plus points, netting a game-high 24 on 9-of-16 shooting - including a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc in the fourth quarter - to lead the Knights.
HOW IT HAPPENED
-Widener came out with a strong shooting performance out of the gate, as the Pride shot 62.5 percent (10-16) while holding the Knights to just 26.3 percent (5-19).
-The Knights locked in on defense in the final ten minutes of the half, limiting the Pride to 4-for-14 from the field in the second quarter - including holding the opposition scoreless for the final 3:51 - while Arcadia ended the half on a 10-2 run to trail by seven at the break, 30-27. Sidney Barrer led eight Arcadia scorers in the half with five points and a game-high seven boards.
-Arcadia's struggles from the field continued to start the second half, as the Pride outscored the Knights 22-8 in the quarter while ending the period on a 10-1 run to take their largest lead of the night.
-Dunn hit a trio of threes in the first two-plus minutes of the fourth to cut into the Pride lead and extend her team-leading point total to 17. Despite Dunn going a perfect 5-for-5 from beyond the arc in the final quarter, the Knights were unable to overcome a 54.5 percent (30-55) shooting night from the Pride, falling in the conference clash, 73-50.
