HOBOKEN, NJ - The Arcadia University men's volleyball team fell to fourth-ranked Stevens, 3-1, in a tough conference battle on the road. After dropping the opening two sets, the Knights fought hard to capture the third set, but couldn't carry momentum into the fourth stanza.
Quinn Baily led Arcadia's offense with 13 kills and a .310 hitting percentage, while
Dan Paraskevov joined the junior in double figures with 12 kills. Baily also led the squad with 11 digs and
Austin Braas tallied four blocks to lead the Knights on defense.
HOW IT HAPPENED
- Arcadia rallied for five-straight points to take an early 6-3 lead in the opening stanza. The Knights and Ducks kept things close for the majority of the first set, until Stevens took a 20-17 lead with four-straight points. With momentum on Stevens side, the Knights answered with three consecutive points to tie the game. However, the Ducks sealed victory with the final two points of the set to win 25-23.
- The Knights jumped out to another early lead with a 7-3 advantage to open the second set. Stevens took their first lead midway through the set with consecutive kills to take an 18-17 advantage. Arcadia fought back to regain the lead, 20-19, but surrendered six straight points to end the set.Â
- Arcadia put together a 6-1 run early in the third stanza to go ahead 13-5. The Knights maintained their lead for the remainder of the set, claiming victory with three straight points, 25-19.
- Stevens and Arcadia went back-and-forth in a must-win fourth set until the Ducks began to pull away with a 7-1 rally, which gave the team a 19-13 lead. Stevens held the lead for the remainder of the stanza, scoring five of the last six points to end the game.
