Game Recap: Men's Volleyball |

Men's Volleyball Sweeps Past Tenth-Ranked Stevenson Friday

GLENSIDE, Pa. - In the first meeting between the two teams since last year's Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Championship game, the Arcadia University men's volleyball team swept the tenth-ranked Stevenson Mustangs in three sets. Senior Dan Paraskevov led the Knights with 14 kills, while Robie Moctezuma tallied a team-high three blocks. Freshman Dylan Zimmerman recorded two service aces, and junior setter Anthony Devantier finished the night with 29 assists.

This was the first time in program history that the Knights have downed the Mustangs in straight sets, and marked the Knights' third victory over an AVCA top-15 opponent this season.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Scarlet and Grey wasted no time jumping out to a 7-2 lead in the first set. Three of those points were from kills by senior Austin Braas, while the other four came as a result of Mustang errors. The two teams went back and forth, but Arcadia pulled ahead to a 21-13 advantage with kills from Paraskevov and an ace from senior Quinn Baily. The Knights took the first set 25-16 after a service ace from Paraskevov.

-The Mustangs had a strong start to the second set, pulling ahead 6-3. The Knights came back and tied the Mustangs at seven with kills from Paraskevov paired with Stevenson errors. Stevenson began to pull ahead again, 17-14, but a service ace from Zimmerman and Stevenson errors put the Knights ahead by one. The two teams exchanged points and were tied at 24, but two Mustang attack errors gave Arcadia the 26-24 second set victory.

-The third set was tightly-contested as the Mustangs and Knights traded points in the early going. Arcadia began to pull away with kills from Quinn and Devantier, along with Stevenson errors, to put them ahead 17-13. The Mustangs tried to rally, and came within two, but kills from Braas, Devantier, and senior Jarod Pichler sealed the win as the Knights took the third set, 25-19.
