ARLINGTON, Va. - The Arcadia University baseball team swept its double-header at Marymount University.
Jeremy Sabathne and
Nick Fossile combined for nine scoreless innings and earned both the victories for the Knights.
Justin Massielo had a huge afternoon at the plate with five hits, three RBI and a home run.
Zachary Sekelick also put together a stellar performance with four hits, three RBI and a home run.
GAME ONE
ARCADIA 6, MARYMOUNT 3
HOW IT HAPPENED
-The Knights left runners in scoring position in each of the first three innings to begin Saturday's doubleheader before breaking through with a pair of runs in the top of the fourth.
Ryan Smolen jump-started the frame with a one-out triple to left-center before
Dylan Towey brought him home with the game's first run with a double down the line in left.
Robert Lichtenberger followed with a base hit into left to score Towey as the Knights took a 2-0 lead into the middle innings.

Jeremy Sabathne was strong from the onset of game one in his second start of the season, striking out a pair in the first before stranding Saints in scoring position in each of the next three innings to cap his outing. In the third, the senior induced a pivotal 4-3 double play before finishing the day with another scoreless frame in the fourth.
-Arcadia broke the game open in the sixth when Towey and Lichtenberger reached to start the frame before
Trey Obarowski delivered a pinch-hit single to left to plate Towey. Following a walk to
Matt Ernst to load the bases with no outs,
Alex Madera produced an RBI ground out before Massielo provided the big knock of the inning with a two-out, two-run single to left-center, staking the Knights to a six-run lead.
-Marymount cut the Arcadia lead to three in the last of the seventh, but
Ross Lawnhurst closed out the game one win with three strong innings of relief as the Knights took the opener, 6-3.

HOW IT HAPPENED
- Sekelick opened the game with a lead off bunt single and advanced to third base on a Massielo single to left field. The freshman later scored on a throwing error to give the Knights a 1-0 lead.
- After two quick outs in the second inning,
Trey Obarowski and
Matt Ernst worked back-to-back walks to extend the inning. Both runners came around to score on a Sekelick double down the left field line, 3-0.
- The Knights added two more runs in the third inning to take a 5-0 lead. Massielo opened the frame with a walk, which was followed by a
Zak Thomas walk. Massielo then came around to score on a
Ryan Smolen double, while Lichtenberger grounded out to plate another run.
- Sekelick's bat struck again in the fourth inning with his first career home run for his third hit and third RBI of the contest, 6-0.
- Marymount plated their first run in the sixth inning with an RBI single to left field, 6-1. However, the Knights added another run in the seventh inning on a one-out home run from Massielo. The Saints then added a four spot in the bottom half of the inning, but fell short of their comeback, 7-5.
