Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 CARY, N.C. – The Arcadia University softball team split their second and last day at the Grand Slam Triangle Classic in Cary, NC. The Scarlet and Grey run-ruled the host team, William Peace University, 10-0 in five innings, before falling short to Randolph College, 3-2. Senior Kylee Schwind allowed only three hits and one walk against the Pacers, while freshman Xanthe Jamanis launched one over the fence for her first collegiate home run to help seal the victory for the Knights.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-  The Knights jumped out to an early lead in the first inning. After senior Ashley Eckett reached on an error, junior Alexis Burge sent a double into the left center gap to score Eckett. The Scarlet and Grey continued to tally runs throughout the game, but the biggest inning for Arcadia came in the fourth.
-  Arcadia scored seven of its ten runs in the fourth inning. Seniors Tori Zangrilli and Mary Pat Murray drew walks, and junior Alexa Vardiman reached on an attempted fielder's choice. A single to left from freshman Effie Jamanis plated her sister, Xanthe Jamanis, who entered for Zangrilli. Another single, this time from junior Brooke Ward, brought home Zwicker, who was pinch running for Murray, and Effie Jamanis.
-  An error on the Pacers allowed Alex DeStefano to reach base, and a single up the middle from Hunter Schantz scored Ward. Sophomore Kayla Pscolka entered the game for the Knights, and freshman Xanthe Jamanis went yard to bring home two more runs for the Scarlet and Grey.
-  Schwind made quick work of the Pacers, tallying seven strikeouts and not allowing a run. She only surrendered three hits and gave up two walks.

HOW IT HAPPENED
-  The Knights threatened with runners in scoring position early in the game, but couldn't get them across the plate. Randolph got on the board first with a 3-run homer in the second inning. The Knights continued to scatter hits, but were unable to string them together.
-  Arcadia began a rally in the sixth inning with a walk for Xanthe Jamanis. Junior Alexa Vardiman and Effie Jamanis walked to fill the bases with two outs. A walk to Ward brought home Xanthe Jamanis, and a passed ball plated Vardiman. The rally came to an end with a flyout to third base.
-  The Scarlet and Grey threatened in the top of the seventh, with Burge reaching on a hit by pitch. Zwicker came in to pinch run, but a groundout to third and a strikeout ended the game.
